Microsoft Exchange - Email Archiving Solution
Challenge
XSM Systems worked with many customers who are challenged with managing Microsoft Exchange email environments. Many of these customers were faced with same challenges:
Controlling the growth of their Exchange environment and the surrounding issues with data backup and PSTs.
Providing historical access to email data for litigation purposes in a timely cost-effective manner.
Creating a compliancy framework for email data to meet regulatory requirements.
Solution
XSM Solutions Architect were tasked with creating a solution to address our customers challenges. After evaluating a number of different product offerings from various IT Vendors, XSM chose the Symantec Enterprise Vault product. Enterprise Vault provided a rock solid archiving framework which not only hanled the Exchange environment but also provided solutions for other data repositories, such as Sharepoint, NTFS file systems and Instant Messaging. In addition to being to highly robust, Enterprise Vault provides the following key functionality:
Reducing the size of the Exchange environment by extracting data out of the Exchange database and placing into the vault.
Providing rapid search & retreieval of all data, email and other forms, stored in the vault.
Integration with Netbackup to create an ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) strategy which include tier-2 storage (vault) as well as tier-3 tape-based devices.
Transparent installation from the perspective of the end-user.
Litigation specific module quickly and easily search the entire vault during legal discovery.
Compliancy specific module can be customized to meet the various regulations regarding supervisory review, content scanning and data retention.
In addition, Enterprise Vault has been rated the #1 product and placed in the Gartner "Magic Quadrant" for the past 3 years running.
